What to do if you are absent: Students will have as many days as they were absent to make up work missed from an excused absence. If work is not made up during this time, only partial credit will be given. When students are absent they should:
Copy notes from a friend.
Turn in any assignments that were due during the date(s) of absence.
Make up missed assignments/tests/quizzes in the time frame allotted.
Students who are absent the day before a test, quiz, or project is due and were aware of the due date of the assignment are expected to take the test or turn the project in on the assigned date. Please refer to the attendance policy on the AHS website. Note that students only have 48 hours to turn in a note for an excused absence.
Grading Policies: Students’ grades will be determined using the following: Tests/projects, quizzes, homework/classwork, and participation. The grading scale is as follows: A = 93-100; B = 85-92; C = 75-84; D = 70-74; F = Below 70. If a student fails a test or quiz, he/she may make corrections (showing all work) in my room before or after school and receive a higher grade up to 70%. Semester exams cannot be retaken or corrected.
Most days, students will be given time to do their daily assignments in class. If the assignment for a given day is turned in by 2 p.m. that same day, students will receive a bonus point. Select homework problems will be checked for accuracy.
Before and after school tutoring will be available on a day/time set in advance. Please check PowerSchool regularly. If your child has received more than two zeros for missing work, I will contact you. It is mandatory and essential that all math work be completed for a successful outcome. “The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics.” (Paul Halmos)
Code of Honor: Cheating will result in all students involved receiving a zero, as well as other consequences. This includes copying homework and using cell phones for assignments/tests/quizzes. Please refer to the Code of Honor on the AHS website.
